Biography
Laurent Perez del Mar is critically acclaimed for his work on the score for the Academy nominated feature film The Red Turtle, produced by the famous studios Ghibli. His score is awarded numerous times, including at the prestigious International Films Critics Association in 2017 and he is also nominated for an Annie Award and for the Prix Lumières in the best music category. Laurent Perez del Mar becomes a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Science in 2017.
He is as comfortable composing for animated films (he wrote scores for Zarafa, nominated for the César in 2012, for Wolfy the incredible secret which won the César in 2014), as he is for feature films ( My Son featuring James McAvoy & Claire Foy, Antigang featuring Jean Reno, Carole Matthieu featuring Isabelle Adjani, Mrs Mills featuring Sophie Marceau…).
Born in Nice, Laurent Perez Del Mar started playing the piano at a very early age. He studied music at the Conservatoire and majored in music composition. Nowadays, Laurent Perez Del Mar resides in Paris.
